VII. Technical Inspection - A: Motorcycle

All motorcycles must pass a technical inspection before getting on the track.

The Technical Inspector may not inspect his own motorcycle(s). The Technical Inspector may, at any time, re-inspect a machine and revoke his approval if the machine no longer meets the necessary requirements. The Technical Inspector may deem a motorcycle and riding gear unsafe although it has meet all the technical requirements. If an item is not observed during the course of technical inspection and constitutes an illegality, then it is the responsibility of the rider or crewmember to make the Technical Inspector aware of the problem.

1. The technical inspector will check the overall condition of the motorcycle. Bikes must be clean and free of excessive fluid leakage. Any unsafe condition must be corrected before the motorcycle may enter the track.

2. All motorcycles must have proof of ownership. Proof must be shown to the technical inspector upon their request.

3. Axles, brake anchor arms and brake caliper mounting bolts must be cotter-pinned or safety wired.

4. All oil drain bolts, oil fill caps, dipsticks, oil filter covers, water drain bolts, and radiator caps must be safety wired.

5. Bikes with spin-on oil filters will have a hose clamp firmly attached around the oil filter, then safety wired to a secure mount.

6. Motorcycles with liquid cooled engines must use WATER ONLY as coolant and a separate 6 oz. catch tank. Non Glycol (Anti-Freeze) water wetter may be used.

7. Steering head bearings, swing arm bearings and wheel bearings must not have excessive play.

8. Steering dampers are required.

9. Motorcycles must have front and rear brakes in GOOD WORKING CONDITION.

10. Tires must have adequate (1/16 of an inch) tread depth or in the case of racing slicks, adequate remaining rubber. No trials or knobby type tires will be allowed.

11. Wheels must be in good condition. Broken or missing spokes, bent rims, or cracks will not be allowed. All valve stems must have a metal cap.

12. If an aftermarket "hard engine cover" is available for your bike, you must have one.
Bikes included are, but not limited to:
All GSXR's, R1 / R6, F2 / F3 / F4 / CBR 900, CBR 929/954 (left only), ZX6R / ZX9R.
Carbon fiber covers are not allowed.

13. Crankcase breather must have an oil catch tank or the stock air box. A K&N breather type filter may be used in some locations.

14. Fuel: only gasoline may be used as a race bike fuel.

15. Gas tanks, seats and body parts must be firmly attached.

16. All glass or plastic lenses must be removed or completely taped over with the exception of gauges.

17. Mirrors, license plates, and accessories such as sissy bars and luggage racks must be removed.

18. No sharp edges or projections will be allowed.

19. NUMBERS: Motorcycles must have three number plates displayed legibly and clearly. Number plates will be mounted one on each side, and one on the front of the motorcycle and they must be visible to the scorekeepers. Bikes with numbers not legible to scorers may not be scored. Front numbers must be black with a white background for experts, black numbers with yellow background for novices. No fancy fonts. Rear numbers may be in any color, and must have a contrasting background. Background must have a border of at least one-inch all the way around the numbers and the numbers may not overlap. No fancy fonts.

Numbers 1-10 will be assigned as follows:
1, 2, and 3 for Open GP
4 for 600 SS
5 for Open SS
6 for 750 SS
7 for F-II
8 for 600 Production
9 for Lightweight
10 for Rookie of the Year, which will be voted on by HRRA members at the end of the year.
Number 0 is set aside for a deserving rider.
If a class winner has already earned a number, then that number may be awarded to second place in class, etc.
The numbers 10 - 20 are reserved for consistent racers.
